Commission a Portrait – What is Involved
The Process, Pricing, & Delivery
I work from photographs rather than from life - making commissioning a portrait easy for busy families or professionals. If you’ve looked through my portfolio and like my style, simply use the contact form to get in touch about your idea. From there, the process is straightforward:
1) Share photos & ideas
Send a few clear, well-lit favourites (no filters). Together, we’ll decide on the best reference, crop and background.
2) Confirm quote & booking
I’ll confirm price and timeline. A 10% deposit secures your commission and your place in my schedule.
3) Painting phase
I typically begin with a tonal underpainting, then build colour in layers. I can share a progress photo part-way through.
4) Approval & delivery
You’ll see photos of the finished piece for approval. The balance is due on approval, then your painting is shipped (UK-wide) or will be available for collection.

Pricing depends on size and complexity (e.g. extra subjects, detailed backgrounds, etc.)
